Hillary Gaddis has been dedication to students and education since 2008. Prior to that, she spent seven years in arts and theatre and she brings that experience and passion to JCS-Cedar Cove. As an educator, Mrs. Gaddis has taught multiple subjects to students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade and she has opened, developed, and lead various K-12 programs and communities of teachers, students, and parents. Mrs. Gaddis demonstrates success as a leader who promotes data-driven instruction based on formative assessment and RtI, innovative learning opportunities incorporating technology, a safe and nurturing environment based in Restorative Practices and Positive Discipline, parent community involvement, and ethical, fiscally-responsible decision making tied to the school’s LCAP and LCFF. “I value the role of all stakeholders in the decision-making process and I believe a good leader recognizes the individual and collaborative talents of those she leads and empowers the team to utilize those talents and be invested in a collective effort focused on students’ needs.
In June 2017, Mrs. Gaddis found her home at JCS-Cedar Cove because she loves the mission of creative academics, artistic opportunities, and a caring community. She believes the purpose of education is to inspire lifelong learning and, in doing this, schools must be focused on providing opportunities for differentiated, scaffolded learning experiences in order to prepare children to be knowledgeable, forward-thinking, ethical, compassionate, happy, and contributing members of society. Schools must also support students by providing safe environments for this exploration, where risk-taking and opportunities to fail-forward are encouraged. She is proud to be the Principal of JCS-Cedar Cove, where student need comes first and the community make a concerted effort to always “Champion the Child!”
