Miss Amy is beyond thrilled to be working as a school OT for JCS. Even as a young child, she always knew she wanted to work with kids. Coming from a teacher family, she originally wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher. While attending Cal Poly, SLO she learned about Occupational Therapy and more specifically Pediatric OT. After completing my prerequisites, she went on to USC to earn her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at USC.
Initially, Ms. Amy worked for a small, family run Pediatric clinic in Oceanside, where she had the opportunity to collaborate with other occupational therapists, speech therapists, and physical therapists. Over the years she has worked with many different populations ASD, ADHD, ODD, SPD, CP, Angelman’s Syndrome, Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome, and other genetic syndromes from as young as 4 months to 23 years of age.

Amy volunteers extensively in various settings such the Minneapolis VA on the spinal cord injury unit, a hand therapy clinic, a homeless shelter, and most recently at Ivey Ranch with their Equine program for children with special needs. Outside of work, she loves spontaneous weekend trips, reading a good book, cooking, yoga, taking her mini goldendoodle to fun places, and spending time with friends/family.

From the start of her career as an OT, she knew I wanted to work in schools. When the opportunity to apply for JCS arose, she saw it as her chance to change directions and follow her dream of becoming a school OT. She is passionate about having the opportunity to educate colleagues and parents on sensory processing and its impact on children in various environments including the classroom and at home.
