Vivian Quimen Ordinario is from Virginia Beach, Virginia.  In December of 2000, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Education/English from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia.  She also recognizes the unique and valuable insight that could only be gained outside of her studies on the university level, by experiencing a career in her field of study.  She has many years of successful experiences with classroom instruction, testing, tutoring, and remediation services. She has had the opportunity to hold teaching credentials and work for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (Virginia Beach, Virginia), the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (Wiesbaden, Germany and Osan, Korea), and Clark County School District (Las Vegas, Nevada).  She currently holds a California Preliminary Multiple Subject teaching credential. Through the opportunity to teach and travel, she gained rare insight by engaging with various school districts and immersing with children of diverse backgrounds. Her teaching experiences have been both fulfilling and rewarding. She takes pride and focuses on establishing effective plans to go above and beyond academic standards in order to become an effective educator.  She faces every day convinced that education is a vital part of success in the world in which we live, and she feels abundantly blessed to be in the teaching profession. She is filled with gratitude for all these experiences that have shaped her into the educator she is today.

She is married to her husband, Edward. They have a 9 year old daughter, Kyleigh, a 7 year old daughter, Sophia, and a 5 year old son, Everett.  As a family, they enjoy going to Legoland and Children’s Museums. In the summer, they love camping and going to the beach. In the winter, they look forward to skiing and ice skating.  They also enjoy travelling and getting together with family and friends. She has truly loved watching her children grow and explore the world with such curiosity. This has been a magical time that she will forever cherish!

She feels so lucky to be part of our JCS – Cedar Cove community and loves working with a wonderful group of educators.  Her students’ days in kindergarten involve exciting experiences of learning, exploring, and meeting new friends. During their time together, they will grow as readers, writers, artists, mathematicians, and scientists.  They will also sing, paint, and build together. They will be working on building a classroom community where they feel safe, cared for, and respected. Together they will set classroom expectations so that they can create a wonderful community of learners.  As you can imagine, they are going to have a lot of fun in kindergarten!
